CODE OF CONDUCT
Anand Niketanites are expected to have the right attitude towards learning and should be disciplined. Every Anand Niketanite is expected to know and apply five basic principles to achieve personal discipline.

These principles are:

  • Follow Rules – Rules must be followed to avoid chaos.
  • Show Respect – Anand Niketanites must have self-respect and should exhibit respect for their families, school and community.
  • Take Responsibility – Anand Niketanites must bear responsibility for their own actions and be accountable. They must know that any irresponsible act may lead to consequences not only to themselves but also to others.
  • Build Relationships – Anand Niketanites must build good relationships with family members, teachers, friends and other fellow school mates. Good relationships help to bond people together and create mutual understanding and support.
  • Practice Reflection – When mistakes (offences) are committed, Anand Niketanites must reflect and learn from them. They must be able to go through process of self – reflection and learn not to repeat the same mistake or offence.

Student declaration

If I am positive and do as requested,
I can expect praise.
If I am disruptive in any way,
I must accept the consequences.  

GENERAL DISCIPLINE

  • Each student should bring Almanac daily to school.
  • Almanac should have child’s photograph and ID information completed and duly signed by his/her parent.
  • No student should damage any school property. Concerned student will be required to compensate for the damage.
  • Expensive & branded pencil boxes, pens, watches & other valuables are strictly not allowed. Simplicity is the hallmark of Anand Niketan.
  • Every belonging of the child should be labeled. The school is not responsible for any goods lost. It is advisable not to bring valuable articles to school.
  • Parents and guardians can’t meet their wards or teachers without prior permission of the authorities.
  • Both the parents should be present for Portfolios held during the year or else submit reason of absence (Only accepted in case of valid emergency reason).
  • It is compulsory for every student to speak in English in the school campus and in school bus.
  • Mobile phones are not allowed in the school. In case students are found carrying mobile phone, it will be confiscated by the school authorities for a period of one year from the date of confiscation.
  • Good manners, abiding by school rules, neatness in person, proper dress up and punctuality are required to be maintained.
  • While moving inside premises during working hours; proper decorum to be maintained. Running, playing or shouting inside the school premises is not allowed.
  • Students are not permitted to attend the school in casual dress except on their respective Birthdays.
  • The School shall not entertain any application for change of section/house of any child once allotted in the beginning of the year.
  • Report cards are liable to be withheld for non-payment of fee.
  • Activities such as third language, clubs and co-scholastic activities once opted shall not be allowed to change during the session.
  • This being a co-education school, both boys and girls are required to have decent behaviour.
  • Students should always greet teachers, non-teaching staff & school mates with respect; inside or outside school premises.

BULLYING
Bullying is strictly prohibited at Anand Niketan Maninagar Campus.
Bullying can be:

  • Emotional (being unfriendly, excluding, tormenting - e.g. hiding books, threatening gestures)
  • Physical- pushing, kicking, hitting, punching or any use of violence.
  • Racist- racial taunts, graffiti, gestures.
  • Sexual- unwanted physical contact or sexually abusive comments.
  • Homophobic- because of focusing on the issue of sexuality.
  • Verbal- name-calling, sarcasm, spreading rumors, teasing.
  • Cyber- All areas of internet, such as email and internet chat room misuse, Mobile threats by text messaging and calls, misuse of associated technology, i.e. camera and video facilities.

 
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS:
A child may reflect signs or behavior that he or she is getting bullied. Few of them are as below:

  • Is unwilling or frightened to go to school (school phobic).
  • Is frightened to go to school.
  • Doesn’t want to go on the school/public bus.
  • Changes are visible in his/her usual behaviour.
  • Begins to play truant.
  • Becomes anxious or lacking in confidence.
  • Starts stammering.
  • Attempts or threatens personal damage.
  • Suffers from nightmares.
  • Feels ill in the morning.
  • All of a sudden performs poor in school.
  • Returns home with disorganized uniform.
  • Has possessions which are damaged or “go missing”.
  • Asks for money or starts stealing money(to pay bully).
  • Is continuously distracted or out of mind.
  • Has unexplained cuts or bruises.
  • Comes home hungry (money/lunch has been stolen).
  • Becomes aggressive, disruptive or unreasonably quite.
  • Is bullying other children or siblings.
  • Stops eating.
  • Is frightened to say what’s wrong.
  • Gives improbable excuses for any of the above.
  • Is afraid to use the internet or mobile phone.
  • Is nervous and restless when a cyber-message is received.

If anyone feels getting bullied, one of the following steps to be taken:

  • Inform your Director
  • Inform your Principal
  • Inform your teacher
  • Inform your Head boy or Head girl
  • Inform your parents
  • Inform to a friend about it
BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS
Students are not allowed to distribute sweets, chocolates or any other individual gifts to their classmates or teachers. However, they may bring a potted plant for school garden or a book for the class library.  
 

School Lockers

  • Lockers are assigned to each student from Grade-III to XII.
  • Students should keep their things safely in locker. Responsibility for the loss of personal property lies with the student. School will not compensate for any such losses.
  • Students who cause damage to their lockers will be charged. Any mechanical problem with the lockers should be reported to the teachers / concerned reporting Head.

Identification Card (ID)

  • ID Cards are issued to all the students.
  • Students are expected to wear ID card during school working hours.
  • This card when asked must be presented to any school employee.
  • If ID card is lost; it can be reissued with due payment of duplicate copy.

School Infirmary

  • If a student falls sick during the day, he/she will be taken to the infirmary. In case of prolonged stay in the sickroom due to illness, parents will be called to school to pick up their ward.
  • Students are administered basic first aid for common ailments & minor external injuries. In case of any unforeseen emergency, the initial support is provided as per the need & the parents of the concerned child will be informed immediately.

Library & Browsing Room
The Library is open to all students of the school. On entering the Library students need to follow below mentioned rules:

  • Strict silence must be maintained in the Library.
  • The Library has an open access system and the students must help to maintain the order of the books on different shelves.
  • Students are not allowed to bring their personal books or belongings to the Library.
  • Only 2 books will be issued for a time period of 15 days.
  • Only students from Grade 3 onwards will be issued books to be carried at home.
  • New book will not be issued without returning the previously issued book.
  • Books damaged while in possession should be replaced by the borrower, failing which parents need to bear the cost of replacement.
  • A fine of Rs.100/- per week will be charged for late return of book.

Change of Address
Anand Niketan staff provides diligent service for maintaining up to date student data. This can only be accomplished with your kind cooperation. It is essential that we have accurate, up-to-date information available for student ID card in order to connect parent in the state of an emergency. Please notify the class teacher or the office for any change in your address, home or work phone numbers through mail/written note along with due signature.

Usage of school phones
The office telephone is used for school functioning and for any emergency intimation.

Parents are requested to give any after-school special dispersal information to their child before they leave home in the morning. During school hours such intimations are not entertained. In case of an extreme emergency such message can be conveyed to the school office and it will be conveyed to the students only during lunch time.

It is necessary to send a signed note with your child granting him/her permission to go home with some other friend.

Students should plan their day ahead and need to carry all essential belongings along with them needed to execute particular day school schedule. Students will not be allowed to use school phone to give such intimations to parents.
